Can you fix heating issues and showers? What other appliances can you replace?

We can replace any electric wall mounted heaters, towel rails, and storage heaters, and electric showers, anything else will require a plumber. We can replace electric hobs and ovens, but nothing involving gas. If you have issues with other appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines etc then you will need an engineer.

What is an RCD? If this trips on the fuseboard what can I do?

An RCD (Residual Current Device), is now standard on any fitted consumer unit made within the last 30 years. They are designed to protect

What's the difference between a Visual Inspection Report (VIR) and an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)?

A VIR is a detailed visual inspection of the fuse board and accessories to identify any signs of damage/wear. The EICR includes this visual inspection, in addition it includes dead testing and live testing, and is also a requirement for any rental properties, where as a visual inspection is not a legal requirement. An EICR is required every 5 years, and a VIR we recommend every year in between this time.  The VIR may take 1-2 hours, an EICR can take 2-4hours depending on property size (domestic). Commercial EICRs may take a lot longer.

What should I do to get an electric car point installed?

We are licensed to install electric car charging points, you can either purchase the charging point yourself and apply for a government grant, or we can assist you with the purchase of one.

Do you have any accreditation? Are you insured?

Yes, we are fully insured with Public Liability up to £5,000,000. We are also accredited with the NICEIC which is the gold standard amongst our trade, we are reviewed annually by them and our work is always up to their high professional standards. Our electricians hold a 17th edition Wiring Regulations certificate and we will provide certification for work upon completion of a job.

How soon can you get someone out to me? How far can you travel?

While this may differ during extremely busy times, we can do urgent callouts on the same day pending workload. For general work, we can attend to quote the work asap and book your work in at suitable time for you and your schedule. We cover Essex mainly on a day to day basis, however we will work in London or the South East if work is longer than one day.

3

What are your prices? Will you come out for a small job?

We can do hourly rates, day rates, emergency call-out fees and then a set fee for a longer job. Again this will all differ depending on what you require doing, but we will work with you to offer a competitive quote for a high standard of work. If you require something like a light changed or a plug socket we will charge our minimum hourly rate and dont need to attend beforehand to offer you a quote. No job is too small for us.

What do I require as a landlord to rent out my property?

You will require an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report, with a satisfactory outcome that needs renewing every 5 years. For a commercial premises this would need renewing every 3 years. We can carry out these reports and the remedial work if required. While its not a legal requirement, its highly recommended to have PAT testing done on any portable appliances every 1-2years to ensure safety and duty of care to your tenants.

Do you carry out full home re-wires? How long might this take? What will we need to do?

Yes, we have done plenty of these. Depending on the size of your home, lets say you have a 3-bed semi, it could range from 1-2weeks for a first fix, and then we would return after the other trades have completed their parts for the second fix which might take up to 1 week more. Unoccupied re-wires are much easier because we will need to lift up flooring and chase walls, move all furniture and it will get dusty! However we are very tidy and have special equipment to minimize dust.
